Protect your intellectual property in the UAE. We provide notarization and legal document preparation for patent filing, trademark registration, and IP assignment in Dubai.
UAE Patent Filing Process
The UAE's patent system is administered by the Ministry of Economy under Federal Law No. 11 of 2021 on Industrial Property. Patents protect new inventions in products, processes, or industrial applications. Foreign applicants must be represented by a licensed UAE patent agent.
Our role is to prepare and notarize the legal documents required at every step, from the initial Power of Attorney authorizing the agent, to IP assignment deeds when ownership changes hands.
Patent Notarization
Notarization of POA documents required for patent filing with the UAE Ministry of Economy.
Trademark Documentation

MOCCAE Requirements for IP Registration
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) handles certain IP registrations, particularly for plant varieties and related biological innovations. Patent & IP FAQ
Where do I register a patent in the UAE?+
Patents in the UAE are registered with the Ministry of Economy (specifically the Industrial Property Department). The application process involves submitting a technical description, claims, and abstract, along with notarized authorization documents if filed through a representative.
Do I need a notarized Power of Attorney for patent filing?+
Yes. If your patent application is filed by a legal representative or agent (which is required for foreign applicants), a notarized Power of Attorney authorizing the agent must be submitted. We prepare and notarize this document.
How long does patent protection last in the UAE?+
UAE patents are protected for 20 years from the filing date, subject to payment of annual renewal fees. Utility certificates (a simpler form of protection) are valid for 10 years.
Can I register a trademark in Dubai separately from a patent?+
Yes. Trademarks are registered separately with the Ministry of Economy's Trademark Department. We assist with notarizing the trademark application POA and assignment documents.
What is an IP assignment deed and when do I need one?+
An IP assignment deed is a legal document transferring ownership of intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights) from one party to another. It must be notarized to be legally effective and recorded with the relevant authority.
